Arkitool.rar

arkitool.rar is a tool for visualizing data from Drosophila experiments. It can take a log of your dataload and visualize it in multiple ways, such as bar plots, error bars, and scatter-plots. It has been designed with the premise that more information is better than less, providing many different ways to visualize the data on the same plot to hopefully show what was going on during each experiment. arkitool also includes several scripts to help automate tasks like preparing your data or setting up plots for presentation at conferences etc.. The name comes from the fact that it was originally made using Autodesk Maya and has a graphic UI. It is free and available for usage in academic research. arkitool is open-source and is completely independent of the arki data logging program that it was designed to work with. To compile: Some examples of different ways to plot data:

arkitool can produce error bar plots, scatter plots, bar plots, boxplots, histograms etc.. Any linear scale can be used because output values are calculated based on the data file and they do not depend on any arbitrary parameters. This is a feature that you normally only get in professional software. All plots in arkitool are created from a single XML file, which means it is easy to modify the way they look or their titles, labels etc.. The user can also change the range of the x and y axis. Also, by default all plots have a grid to aid with identifying points quickly. In most cases it can be removed with a simple XML modification

arkitool has been designed with the goal that more information is better than less. This philosophy comes from our time spent in genome wide data analysis where we have just one chance to present a cool-looking results table to our colleagues and advisors after months of work. To summarize, arkitool presents data in multiple ways so that more information is available to the reader. The readers are not required to have a scientific background in order to be able to understand what is going on.

arkitool also features a variety of scripts that allow for time saving tasks like batching data for later analysis, setting up plots for presentation at conferences etc..
